What is Sadaqa jariyah?
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity (Sadaqa Jariya), knowledge that is benefited from, and a righteous child who prays for him."
Sahih Muslim
Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "There are seven deeds that continue to bring rewards for a believer after death: knowledge from which others benefit, a pious child who prays for them, a Qur'an that they leave as inheritance for others, digging a well, planting a tree, building a mosque, and giving charity from their wealth while they are healthy and alive."
